Design highlight


Prior to Yvonne’s appointment,
Knoll Studio represented
approx. 3% of UK turnover.
The bulk of revenue came from
Knoll’s desking systems.

This was completely reversed
with Knoll Studio making
up the majority of sales, 
boosted by Yvonne’s strategy
to highlight Knoll’s lesser known
(at the time) Studio collections
by the likes of Jens Risom, 
Harry Bertoia, Gae Aulenti, 
Maya Lin and Warren Platner. 

This was achieved with a series
of campaigns, exhibitions
and thematic displays
at venues including
Co Existence and Mission,  
 generating editorial in both
the trade and consumer press
(not previously done), 
thereby broadening
Knoll’s general profile. 

To promote Knoll’s 60th
anniversary celebrations, 
sole access was given to the
Independent Saturday Magazine
with the resulting feature
making the cover story,
unheard of for a trade event
by a contract furniture company. 
Divulging antics/‘water cooler’ 
conversation, Knoll was the talk
of London’s design community
long after the event,
and in the words of Oscar Wilde…
